Key Expander is operated by Vikas Walia, trading as a self-employed sole trader (OSVC / zivnostnik) registered in the Czech Republic, ICO 06035612, with a registered office as recorded in the Czech trade register. That is the entity responsible for the app and this website.

When you buy a subscription, the transaction itself is handled by Paddle.com, acting as our reseller. Paddle is the merchant of record for your purchase: your receipt, your invoice and your payment method are with Paddle, not with us, and Paddle's own buyer terms govern that transaction. You can read them on Paddle's website. We remain responsible for the product and for supporting you.

Key Expander is a text-expansion application, available for the platforms listed on this website: it watches what you type in the apps you use and replaces a short trigger with the longer text you have saved for it. Your snippets are stored on your own machine, and the app does not need an internet connection to expand text. It does not send your snippet content to us.

Using Key Expander does require an account. You give us an email address and a password, confirm the address, and the app then talks to our server about your account and your license: which plan you are on, activating the devices you use, and checking that your subscription is still valid. You are responsible for keeping your password to yourself, and the account is for one person. Please do not share it.

Key Expander is free to use for as long as you like, on one machine, with five snippets that expand and plain text only. Nothing expires and no card is required. You may write as many snippets as you want: all of them are saved and editable, five of them expand at a time, and you choose which five whenever you like.

On the free plan your snippets are stored on that one machine and nowhere else. There is no snippet sync and we keep no copy of them on our servers, so if the machine is lost or wiped the snippets are lost with it. Snippet sync, more than five active snippets, and every other paid feature need an active paid subscription.

There is one plan, billed at the price shown on the pricing page and at Paddle's checkout at the time of purchase, through Paddle as a recurring annual subscription. It renews automatically each year unless you cancel first. A paid subscription covers five machines at a time for one person; you can add, remove and swap which machines those are yourself, from inside the app.

Tax is added at checkout where it applies, and prices are shown to you in your own currency by Paddle. If we raise the price in the future, that only applies to new customers: if you are already subscribed, your price does not change for as long as you keep renewing.

You can cancel at any time from Paddle's customer portal, which is linked from your receipt and from the app. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not refund the current period. Once a subscription ends, expansion stops working, but your snippets stay on your own machine and remain yours.

Our refund position is set out in full on its own page: Refund Policy. In short, the free plan exists so that you never pay before you have properly used the product, and because of that, refunds are not offered as a matter of course after you have paid.

We aim for Key Expander to work reliably in the apps it supports, and we test it against a real set of applications rather than claiming it works everywhere. Beyond your rights under statutory consumer law, we do not offer any warranty that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose you have in mind. Nothing here limits any right you have that cannot be limited by law in your country.

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will update this page and, where we reasonably can, tell existing subscribers before the change takes effect.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection you are entitled to under the law of the country you live in.
